Dear
Parent/Guardian
The Professional and
Community Experience (PaCE) Program
welcomes you as an important member of
the PaCE school-to-career partnership where school, parents, students, and
business professionals work together to help your student—the youth of Fremont
County—explore career options and achieve training, skills, and experience.
Your son/daughter recently
shared with you the PaCE Program Handbook, which explained your responsibilities
as a parent, as well as the responsibilities of your student, the PaCE Director,
and work supervisors. Your student signed the PaCE Code of Ethics and Supplemental
Agreement contained in the handbook, which should demonstrate for you the
high values, and professionalism that is expected of each student. Please take
time to explore what the PaCE program is all about by reading the handbook.
One of the requirements of
the Professional and Community Experience school-to-career program at Cañon
City High School is attendance at PaCE seminars. These seminars are held every Monday from
10:45-11:25. The PaCE Director
and/or guest speakers from the community share work and career information that
is directly pertinent to ALL students during this time. Seminar time is also
used for weekly record-keeping and problem-solving time for PaCE students.
Please remind your student of this commitment and note that students are
allowed only one general per quarter.
Grading guidelines for the
PaCE program are included in the program handbook. While there are only six
requirements, all are required in order to earn school credit for
working. These requirements include: 1) attendance at weekly seminar, 2)
employer work evaluations, 3) student self-evaluations, 4) a training plan, 5)
one time sheet per week, and 6) satisfactory completion of all assignments. Likewise,
each student must abide the PaCE Code of Ethics, Training Agreement, and
Supplemental agreement in order to earn credit.
Getting involved with your
student is a key to helping them complete this experience successfully.
The students are learning responsibility and commitment to both their employer
and their education. Your support in fostering this commitment is critical. Get
involved by taking an interest in their participation in the PaCE
program—truly make this experience positive by making it a true partnership
effort!
Sincerely
Mike Ortega, PaCE
Director
